Vote of confidence

Written by on November 6, 2012

After poring over our ballots this week, Tim, Andy, Emily and I selected our favorites for President of the United States, Congressional rep, state treasurer, and attorney general. Then we voted on a few measures like fishing, marijuana, libraries, and school funding. I love the freedom to pick our leaders and decide how our tax dollars will be put to work. I don’t always agree with who gets voted in, but that’s why we’re given the charge to pray for our nation.

But not every leader in our community is put there by a ballot. Circumstances make leaders out of those of us who listen for the voice of God with the intent of gaining His mindset. In a crowded room with others who are paying you no heed? No worries! Even if you’re occupying a seemingly insignificant seat, you’re an important influencer right where you are.

Today, declare: “I’m capable. I’m trustworthy. I am a skilled leader. Lord, use me and all my faults, failures, struggles, and confusion, and turn them into gifts, successes, ease, and clarity for Your Name. When I stumble, allow leadership skills to surface as I show others how to press into You when the going gets tough and seemingly impossible. Because with You, all things are possible.”

Today, I’m praying you’re casting vote of confidence for yourself – teaming with a God who plans to use you powerfully! Keep your spiritual eyes open. I believe in you!

What leadership skills is God developing in you this week?

Amen, Lynn! At church last Sunday we were encouraged to think of our personal covenant with the Lord. The pastor said that each of us has been given a direction for our lives, and he likened that to our covenant. It was thought provoking, and sort of goes with your message of teaming with God for His plans in our lives. Thanks.

Thanks for the great comment, Jane. It’s not always easy to find the right direction! But, I figure, we follow after the Holy Spirit – and He’ll show us who to partner with.
