Mr. Hookup

Written by on May 23, 2011

Recently waiting as Les Schwab rotated my tires, I read on the side of an empty pickup truck parked outside:

Mr. Hookup      Connects TVs, VCRs, dish systems, home theaters

I imagined that Jesus was about to climb behind the wheel and go hook somebody up.

What kind of hookup are you calling Jesus for today?

I am hooking up to Jesus daily, hourly, and moment by moment because I want to know Him better and because I need His help conquering fear right now.

THANK YOU for praying for me. Fear is from the enemy I know. He likes to disrupt my life with that lately. I’m experiencing fear because I got downsized and am unemployed and can’t find a good fit job that will bring in a paycheck for my bills and be the place that God wants me to be. I have been struggling with discouragement. I am trying my best to trust the Lord, but finding it’s not easy. Life lessons…how to let go and let God, how to quit trying to control my life and let God guide it combined with my obedience, how to quit worrying, how to trust that He has a plan for my life. All tough things for me to do, but I need to learn these life lessons sooner than later. Thanks for praying against my fear in May. Thanks for your encouraging blog. Thanks for your presence on this earth. I appreciate you so very much!

Susan, today I pray for your strength and courage in the middle of seeming defeat. There is purpose in this season (I don’t pretend to know why), and God is building a testimony in you. I pray for the Holy Spirit to fortify you today.

I liked the post, but off the subject, is Les Schwab the place where they “run” to your car? I had heard there was one in the NW that did that..

Yes, Les Schwab guys run to your car (more like a brisk walk, perhaps) when you pull up. They are friendly. Actually I’d always thought they were a national chain and just now found out they’re local only to the NW. What about the prodigal son? I wonder if he ever got a flat tire? Maybe more like a camel with a split toenail.

I read about it in a business book called “Collapse of Distinction” by Scott McKain. A super, great book on creating your brand image to be distinct. Distinction sells and maintains! Anyway, thanks for the information. Thought I remembered the name correctly.
