I have come that you may have life, and that you may have it more abundantly. (Jesus, in John 10:10)

Celebrating my birthday yesterday was a chance to take inventory of how I’m doing in reaching personal goals. When I told my friend Stacie I felt I was behind the power curve in some ways, she asked, “How have you lived the dash?”
“What’s ‘living the dash’?” I asked.
“Memorial stones contain a birth date and a death date. The dash between them represents the years of your life and how you live them,” she explained.
Today I’m reflecting on living the dash – on some days a mad, racing dash to keep up with it all! Ack!
I’ve found joy in these areas of relentless freedom:
- from cycles of chronic pain of fibromyalgia, to a place of significant increase in physical strength
- from thirty-one years of ups and downs in marriage, to a position of substantial upward growth in my relationship with Tim
- from years of discouragement rooted in lies from the enemy, to the miracle of redemption found in my identity in Christ, with freedom I’ve contended for on behalf of family, friends, and myself
- from a stance of conditional love to one of overflow with an overwhelming agape love for others that only Jesus can bring
How are you “living the dash?” In what areas have you found freedom?
