If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Rom. 10:9)
I'm very excited to see God move recently, as I've had the privilege of praying with a number of people in our community to accept Christ. How? It's easy – because people are ready! Consider:
- A man living out of his car. I gave him an envelope with $30 cash. On the envelope I'd written, "You're in a safe place." We prayed for God to provide a job and a home.
- Three people at Clackamas Town Center who prayed with me to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, including a Latino teen.
- A twelfth grader who lives around the corner from my home. He chatted with me on my driveway last Friday afternoon, then prayed and gave His life to Christ.
- Four children on my block, ages 4-11, who were walking down the street Monday, selling items for a fundraiser for their school. One was a nine year old girl who stopped and prayed with me to receive Jesus in her heart. Then a boy with her asked, "Does it count if I prayed along in my head?" When I told him he needed to pray aloud to confess Jesus as Lord, he and two other girls prayed with me to receive Christ!
To my surprise, those kids showed up on my doorstep a few days later after school, asking for prayer. This time the kids brought a two-year-old boy who drank it all in. They told me that after we prayed for their families, the next day, both girls' mothers got jobs.
At the end of our tutoring lessons a few days ago, two Vietnamese girls prayed and gave their lives to Christ.
After I finish praying, I ask people what miracle they need. We pray. Then I urge them, "Do you know anyone who needs encouragement? Tell them about your new life in Christ. Tell the good news of God's forgiveness and that Jesus Christ is with them. You are now filled with the Holy Spirit. Be ready to think God thoughts, to hear God's voice, to sense His presence. Tell them about your renewed life in the Spirit!"
Maybe you're thinking, "Oh, yeah, for you it's easy. No one ever says no to you!" That's not true. Lots of people I approach say "no" and walk away. We don't close the deal. But so what? People are not rejecting me. They're rejecting God. I've planted a seed – who knows? Maybe now they're thinking God thoughts.
Keep at it! You'll find those who are hungering for God. Share the good news of the life of Christ, and God will use you to ignite a fuse.
It's easy because people are ready.
