When Tim and I went to the McKenzie River last month, I found myself discouraged with less-than-perfect accommodations, including our nemesis, a rooster that crowed around the clock.
In my head, I heard words like “stupid” and “awful wife” and “condemned.” And soon I added, “Whoa, getting the hang of self-talk stuff is so hard! I’ll never get it right!”
But as I prayed, I felt the Lord whisper, No condemnation, Lynn. That includes you. Is conviction from My Spirit? Yes. It means you’re continuing to learn and grow. I bless your commitment to speak more kindly to yourself. Even on days like today.
Spend time in intimacy with Me. Let My calm center become yours. Listen to your soul in these moments.
When we allow the calm center of Christ to become ours, our self-talk will naturally reflect God’s truths.
In what ways are you making headway in self-affirmation this week?
