Did it! Did it!

Written by on October 31, 2012

I had the privilege of taking home first prize in Portland Toastmaster’s Mock Tall Tales contest Monday night! I told the story of Jumping Jimmy of Calaveras County, who competed in a frog race and broad jump  (see blog posts of March 28 and April 2 for more of the story). At the end of the tall tale, Jimmy boasts, “Did it! Did it!”

Do I win every time? Nope. But this time I did.

Click!

Cam Jansen, fictional girl detective, takes snapshots with the “camera” of her mind. Later, she recalls every detail. She might look carefully at a dog, and say, “Click!” Later, she solves a mystery by closing her eyes and telling the police every detail of the dog, clear down to his toenails.

Like Cam,  experiences are imprinted on our minds. But what’s worth remembering?

WINS deserve to get imprinted in our minds with indelible ink.

“Click!” goes the shutter of my internal camera today. Then,  down the road, when the pendulum swings back and I fail, the snapshot in my head is ready to go.

By the way, in case you can’t tell, the trophy is an inflatable toy. Good thing. I’ll save it so someone can throw it to me in an upcoming Toastmaster event when I’m drowning in the deep end.

Did it! Did it!

In what area have you gained a victory this week?

What are some other ways to capture wins?

Hurray for you, Lynn! May God continue to shower blessings on you as you share and speak.
What an adorable example of follow through. “Did it” makes so much more sense than ribbit.

Lynn, thanks for your kind words. Think I’ll “click!” on your comment and save that up for a day when I need encouragement! Did it! Did it!

    How cool, Lynn!

I consider one victory of the week when I have new people sign up for my weekly free texts of encouragement! So, I had one of those this week – maybe 2, can’t remember.

Also, to have so many come to our church’s Trunk or Treat. Hopefully people will be impacted by more than candy!

Jarrod, glad to hear your sphere is influence is expanding! As a pastor, you get to claim wins every day. And some sweeter than candy.
