"Give us this day our Chicken McBytes…" (Jesus, in Luke 11:3, LHV)
I figure devotional times are a lot like sitting down to a full-course meal. They fill you up, providing strength and wholeness. Listening to God by spending time in His Word and getting tuned into His voice in prayer is like taking in a nourishing and satisfying feast – body, soul, and spirit.
But if your schedule's like mine, there are days when you don't have time for a complete download of God's audio file all in one sitting. For that matter, who's sitting? Some days we're running.
On days we don't have time for an entire McHappy Meal, I figure there's grace for a few snacks – a bit like grabbing some Chicken McBites on the run. We can listen for brief sound bytes of God’s voice, as it were, throughout the day.
Tune in to a few Bible verses on the iPod or smart phone. Tack a sticky note to the bathroom mirror with a key verse for the week. Flip the journal open to revisit a promise you heard a few weeks ago. Read a proverb or two aloud as you fly out the door. Or share the meal – on an index card, scribble a note of godly encouragement that includes a Bible verse for a friend.
Chicken McBytes, anyone?
How do you connect with the Lord on days when you're on the run?
