God has spoken once,
Twice I have heard this:
That power belongs to God.
Last night we had a snowstorm that tore at the Douglas fir trees towering over our property and flung broken limbs at our house. To our dismay, this morning Tim and I woke up to find a large loose branch dangling from the power line in our back yard. To make matters worse, another branch snapped and plummeted to pierce the seventeen-year-old tiles of the roof. Soon an incessant rain made its way through the new hole in the roof to a bucket we quickly set out in the soaked laundry room.
Sometimes events in the natural reveal our spiritual experience. In my devotional time this morning, I asked the Lord, "Like that dangling branch on the power line, do I have anything interfering with Your power in my life? Is there any sin or impurity – perhaps unforgiveness in my heart – that might disturb the flow of Your Spirit in me today?"
Then I considered the leak. "Lord, do I need to repent today? In what areas do I permit Your love to leak out of me? How can I better seal my heart with Your promises, to prevent them from escaping?"
In what area do you need to remove interference with God's power in your life? Does it ever feel like God’s love “leaks” from you? If so, how can you prevent it?
