Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God. They were filled with awe and said, “We have seen remarkable things today.” (Luke 5:26)
The word amazed is used over forty times in the Bible. One time after another people were amazed that Jesus healed the blind, deaf, and disabled; that the wind and waves obeyed Him; that He cast out demons; that He taught with great authority. People were amazed at these expressions of Jesus’ wisdom and power. His miracles were a powerful source of revelation and hope for those who witnessed them. And God’s miracles are amazing today!
When we slow down and take a look at God’s handiwork with thankfulness, we perceive even the most common encounters as miracles. God delights in our regarding His world with fresh eyes of wonder. Unopened daffodils on a cold March morning hold the promise of good things to come. We know that soon they’ll warm us with their beautiful yellow smiles, and summer is close behind.
Seeing small beauties in the common and the ordinary with eyes of delight and joy is to be amazed. What are you amazed at today?

Do you remember the lines to the old song? “I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene, and wonder how He could love me, a sinner condemned, unclean…”

Yes. I love it! Thanks for the advice on the camera. Throughout my day I’m continually capturing moments…sometimes I don’t have my camera, so I put the capture in my heart. I want to remember all the beauty I see!
